Odisha train accident: 1 dead, several injured as 11 coaches of Bengaluru-Kamakhya Express derail
PTC News Desk: At least one person was killed and several other injured after as many as 11 coaches of Bengaluru-Kamakhya Superfast Express derailed near Nergundi station in Odisha’s Cuttack on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Suvankar Roy, 23 who is a native of West Bengal's Alipur.
“We have received one body apart from some injured passengers. Three teams of doctors have been engaged to treat the injured passengers," the Administrative officer of SCB Medical College and Hospital Subash Chandra Ray said.
The officials have yet to ascertain the cause of the derailment.
Trains Diverted Due To Derailment
Some trains were also diverted from their actual route due to derailment.
12822 Dhauli Express, 12875 Neelachal Express, and 22606 Purulia SF Express were diverted with immediate effect.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has also expressed concerns over the derailment and giref over the innocent life lost. He has also assured that authorities are working normalise the situation as soon as possible.
