Noida: In a quest for love on dating apps, man loses 6.5 cr life saving
PTC News Desk: A man in Noida fell prey to cheating and lost all his life saving of Rs 6.5 crore after he was deceived into investing in online trading app by the girl he met online.
Daljit Singh, a resident of Noida sector 36 who is a divorcee created his profile on a dating app in a quest to find love. However little did he know that he is about to loose all his savings.
Singh filed a complaint with Cyber Crime Police on Wednesday alleging that a girl he met online on dating app lured him into investing in certain entities by claiming that it would earm him huge profit even without any previous experience.
Accordiing to Daljit's complaint who is a Director at a Delhi-based firm, matched with a woman named Anita on a dating app back in December 2024. After persuading him to invest in the trading website, the man said that he had booked Rs 24,000 in profits on an initial investment of Rs 3.2 lakh.
Following which Singh transferred his life-long savings Rs 4.5 crore. On Anita's suggestion, he took a loan of Rs 2 crore and invested that as well.
The problem started arising when as usual he tried to withdraw his money from the trading platforms SpreadMKT and Sprecdex.cc. which now demanded additional 30 per cent security and exchange service fee of Rs 61 lakh. He got suspicious and lodged a complaint with Cyber Cell.
Upon investigation, Anita's dating app profile turned out to be fake. Police are now trying to gather information on the accounts to which the money was transferred.
