NIA announces Rs 15 lakh cash reward for info on terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu

New Delhi, February 15: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) declared a Rs 15 lakh bounty on absconding gangster Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa on Wednesday.

Landa, a resident of Harike village in Punjab's Tarn Taran district, currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. On August 20, last year, the NIA filed a case against Landa under Sections 120B, 121, 121A of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 17, 18, 18-B, and 38 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967 for his involvement in unlawful activities all across the country.

According to the NIA, Landa is wanted in regular Case No. 37/2022/NIA/DLI dated August 20, 2022.

"If any person has any information of the importance of Landa leading to his arrest or apprehension, the information may be shared on 011-24368800, WhatsApp and Telegram number 91-8585931100 and Email ID: do.nia a@gov.in at NIA's Headquarter in New Delhi," the agency stated on Wednesday.

"The identity of the informer shall be kept secret," NIA further said.

The NIA action comes months after Punjab Police arrested four alleged Landa accomplices and recovered four countrymade weapons, magazines, and bullets from their possession.

One of the suspects, identified as Gurlal Singh, was wanted by counterintelligence in connection with an explosives seizure last year. He had been evading arrest for several months.

Other Tarn Taran residents who were detained in December last year included Rajbir Singh Raja, Armandeep Singh alias Lakha, and Gurlal Singh.
