PTC News Desk: A newborn was allegedly stolen from a Bihar hospital on Sunday. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera.

The video shows a woman entering Begursarai's Sadar Hospital's Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), covering a baby boy in a cloth, and then leaving.

Nandini Devi, a resident of Lohia Nagar, gave birth to the child around 10:30 p.m. When the family arrived at the hospital at 7 p.m. on Sunday to nurse the infant, they found the baby missing. The father, who had last seen his child at 2 p.m., raced to the hospital after his wife informed him that the baby had not been given over to her by the nurse.

Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh, Begusarai's Civil Surgeon, acknowledged the gravity of the issue, saying, "A lot of people enter the premises, which makes it hard to identify and distinguish the child's mother from other relatives."

No hospital staff could explain how the infant went missing.

During interrogation, the woman guard stated that a lady came to her and asked for Nandini's baby to be fed, so she handed her the kid. When the CCTV footage was examined, it was clear that a woman entered the SNCU, looked around, took the infant in her lap, and then left.

Rather than going to Nandini, she leaves the hospital with two other women. When the female guard was questioned about the incident, it was found that the child had been sold.

The baby was sold to a woman from Bhagwanpur, near Lakho police station. Following this, officials from the Nagar police station arrived in Bhagwanpur late at night and safely rescued the child.
