PTC News Desk: BJP leader Nayab Singh Saini, who played a pivotal role in securing his party's unprecedented third consecutive victory in the Haryana Assembly elections, is anticipated to take the oath of office as Chief Minister on October 15, as reported.

To manage the preparations for the upcoming oath-taking ceremony, the Haryana state chief secretary has established a 10-member committee, which will be chaired by the District Commissioner of Panchkula. This committee is responsible for ensuring that all arrangements are in place for the significant event.

Notable dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various prominent leaders from the BJP, such as Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states. This gathering reflects the party's commitment to presenting a united front as it celebrates its electoral success.

During the election campaign, the BJP had indicated that Nayab Singh Saini, who succeeded Manohar Lal Khattar as Chief Minister in March, would be the party’s candidate for the top position should they secure a win. Notably, Saini hails from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), a crucial demographic that significantly influences voting patterns in Haryana.

Earlier this week, Nayab Singh Saini, along with other newly-elected BJP MLAs from Haryana, convened with senior party leaders in Delhi. Saini also had discussions with high-ranking officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, and Union Minister JP Nadda, further solidifying his leadership role.

In a remarkable electoral performance, the BJP overcame a decade of anti-incumbency sentiment and defied predictions made by exit polls, culminating in their best-ever results in Haryana, capturing 48 out of 90 Assembly seats. The Congress party, which had aimed for a resurgence, managed to secure only 37 seats.

The Jananayak Janata Party (JJP), which had been in an alliance with the BJP from 2019 until March 2024, faced significant losses, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed to win any seats. Additionally, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won just two seats. However, three independent candidates, including Savitri Jindal, emerged victorious and have pledged their support to the BJP, further enhancing the party's standing in the Assembly.
