My father sexually assaulted me, I used to hide under bed: DCW chief Swati Maliwal shares her story
New Delhi, March 11: Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal on Saturday shared her story and said that she has been a victim of sexual assault at the hand of her father when she was a child.
Swati Maliwal, who attended a women's commission award function, said the event made her emotional because the struggle stories of the women awardees reminded her of her own struggle, in which she was 'sexually assaulted' by her father.

"My father used to beat me up a lot. I used to hide under the bed when he came home, I was so scared. At that time, I used to think the whole night about how to empower women against such atrocities. He used to hold my hair and hit my head hard against the wall. But I believe that ignited the determination in me to work for the welfare of the women," Swati Maliwal said.
