Mumbai: After the tragic and fatal stampede at a religious gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district ,  which claimed the lives of at least 121 people including 106 women and seven children and injured many more, recent stampede-like-situation at Mumbai airport created chaos and created a state of panic among residents.

Mumbai’s Kalina witnessed a stampede-like-situation and scenes of chaos and panic as  Air India Airport Services Ltd announced walk-in interviews, attracting an overwhelming number of job seekers.

The reports indicate that more than 25,000 applicants from all across the nation, holding different degrees such as advanced, BBA, BA, MCom and BCom showed up for 2,216 vacancies, leading to a situation akin to a stampede.

Several videos also depict thousands of individuals rushing toward the interview venue, with some resorting to climbing vehicles and trees in their haste to reach it.

The walk-in-interview organisers struggled to control the massive crowd, which resulted in scenes of jostling at the form counters. Many applicants endured hours of waiting without access to food and water, causing some to feel unwell.

The stampede-like-situation at Mumbai highlights intense competition for job opportunities and underscores concerns over managing large-scale recruitment events effectively.
