Mumbai road rage incident leads to fatal beating in front of victim's family

PTC News Desk: A 28-year-old man, identified as Akash Maeen, was brutally beaten to death by a group of men following a road rage incident involving an autorickshaw in Mumbai's Malad area on Saturday evening. Akash, a worker for the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), was accompanied by his parents at the time of the altercation.

The incident occurred near Pushpa Park when an autorickshaw driver collided with Akash's vehicle while attempting to overtake it. This minor accident sparked a heated argument between Akash and the auto driver. Following the initial confrontation, the auto driver left the scene, but tensions escalated when a crowd gathered in support of the driver.

Witnesses reported that the situation quickly turned violent, with Akash being attacked by the group that had formed. A video captured the distressing scene, showing Akash being mercilessly assaulted while his father attempted to intervene and protect him. In a heartbreaking display of desperation, Akash's mother lay over her son’s body in a futile attempt to shield him from the attackers.

According to police reports, Akash sustained severe injuries from the brutal beating and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Dindoshi Police, acting swiftly, reviewed CCTV footage from the area and apprehended six suspects on Sunday, followed by three more arrests on Monday. All nine individuals have been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and related offenses. Authorities have confirmed that these suspects will remain in police custody until October 22 as the investigation continues.

This shocking incident has raised concerns about road safety and the prevalence of violence in seemingly minor disputes, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of law and order on the streets of Mumbai.
