Mumbai dust storm: Mumbai experienced its inaugural rainfall of the season, coinciding with a massive dust storm that enveloped the sky around 3 pm today. While the rainfall brought relief from the scorching heat for Mumbai residents and those in nearby areas, the cityscape was shrouded in dusty winds.
In various parts of Mumbai, including Ghatkopar, Bandra Kurla, and Dharavi, there were strong winds and a lot of rain. One of the busiest airports in the nation, Mumbai Airport, has suspended landing and takeoff operations till further notice, according to officials.
Although the unexpected rainfall offered respite from the intense heat, it also resulted in power disruptions in places such as Kalwa in the Thane district and various other neighborhoods.
As many as 3 killed, 59 were injured after a massive hoarding collapsed in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area on Monday amid strong winds.
A complaint will be filed by registering an FIR under the Disaster Management Act, the BMC Public Relations Office said.
The search and rescue operation is in process.
