Jharkhand Assembly elections: MS Dhoni appointed as brand ambassador for upcoming polls
PTC News Desk: Former Indian Cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been appointed as brand ambassador for Jharkhand for upcoming elections, Chief electoral officer Ravi Kumar said during a press conference.
Dhoni has granted permission Election Commission to use his image in campaign materials aimed at encouraging voter participation. He has been appointed ambassador with an objective to boost awareness amongst voters under SWEEP (Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) program.
The poll body is expected to leverage Dhoni's popularity to spread enthusiasm and encourage the voters to caste in their vote. A total of 43 constituencies will go to polls on November 13.
The nomination process has been completed and leaders who filed their nomination include former Chief Minister Champai Soren and former deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand Sudesh Mahato.
Elections are being held on 81 seats of the Jharkhand assembly in two phases on November 13 and November 20, results will be declared on November 23.
