Monkey intrudes Ram Temple, devotees decipher hanuman sign

PTC News Desk: A captivating incident unfolded at the newly inaugurated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, managed by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust. As the temple opened its doors to the public, a monkey made a remarkable entrance into the sanctum sanctorum, where the revered idol of Ram Lalla resides. The incident, recounted by the trust in a post, has sparked a wave of divine interpretation among devotees.

According to the trust, at approximately 5:50 pm on a recent Tuesday, a monkey entered the temple through the southern gate, navigating its way to the vestibule. The primate then approached the utsav idol—an older representation of Ram Lalla that once occupied a tent before the temple's construction. Security personnel, vigilant about the idol's safety, swiftly moved towards the monkey. However, to their surprise, the monkey remained calm, retreating towards the northern gate, which was closed. Eventually, the monkey exited through the eastern gate, seamlessly passing through the crowd of devotees without causing any harm.

The trust's statement suggested that security personnel perceived the monkey's visit as a divine blessing, interpreting it as Lord Hanuman paying a visit to Ram Lalla. This interpretation gains momentum from the longstanding association of monkeys with Hanuman, the vanara god deeply devoted to Lord Ram and a central figure in the Ramayana.

Monkeys, often regarded as avatars of Hanuman, hold symbolic significance in the history of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Notably, during the surge of karsevaks past barricades on October 30, 1990, which led to the hoisting of saffron flags atop the Babri Masjid, a monkey positioned itself on the central dome. It played a peculiar role in safeguarding one of the flags from removal after the dispersal of the crowd by security forces. This recent monkey encounter further intertwines folklore, spirituality, and symbolism in the rich tapestry of the temple's history.
