Modi's visit to Rewari emphasises Gurugram metro project and AIIMS development
PTC News Desk: The eagerly awaited visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Rewari today has sparked anticipation as he is set to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects amounting to over Rs 9,750 crore. These projects span across vital sectors including urban transport, rail, health, and tourism, signifying a significant stride towards development in these domains.
Among the notable projects, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the Gurugram Metro Rail project, a much-anticipated initiative aimed at enhancing urban transportation in Haryana. With an estimated cost of Rs 5,450 crore, the Gurugram Metro Rail project holds promise for alleviating traffic congestion and facilitating smoother connectivity within the region. Its significance is underscored by the long-standing demand of Gurugram residents for improved metro connectivity, which this project aims to fulfill.
Additionally, the foundation stone for a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rewari will be laid during the visit. Spanning across 203 acres and with an estimated cost of Rs 1,650 crore, this state-of-the-art healthcare facility is poised to transform medical infrastructure in the region. Equipped with a 720-bed Hospital Complex, a 100-seat Medical College, a 60-seat Nursing College, and a 30-bed AYUSH Block, the AIIMS in Rewari is envisioned to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the community, catering to diverse medical needs.
Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav expressed the sentiments of many city residents, emphasizing the significance of the Gurugram Metro project. He highlighted that this initiative will not only address the long-standing demand for improved metro connectivity but also integrate the old city areas into the metro route, thus enhancing accessibility and connectivity for the populace.
Prime Minister Modi's visit to Rewari underscores the government's commitment to fostering holistic development, with a focus on key sectors such as urban transport and healthcare. These initiatives hold the promise of enhancing the quality of life for residents while bolstering infrastructure and economic growth in the region.
The project spans a total length of 28.5 kilometers.
It will link Millennium City Centre to Udyog Vihar Phase-5.
The network will integrate with the current Metro network of the Rapid Metro Rail Gurugram at Moulsari Avenue, near Cyber City.

Additionally, there will be a 1.85-km spur at the Dwarka Expressway.
A total of 27 elevated projects are anticipated as part of the Gurugram Metro Rail project.
The projected completion timeline is four years.
The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) will oversee the execution of the project, diverging from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which executed the existing Gurugram metro.
