Microsoft engineer in Bengaluru drives auto rickshaw on weekends to beat loneliness: 'Heartbreaking,' says internet

PTC News Desk: Unexpectedly, a prominent Microsoft engineer in Bengaluru was observed on weekends operating an auto rickshaw as a solitary means of overcoming his loneliness. The image was published by user X, and it provoked a heated discussion on social media.

Tech enthusiast Venkatesh Gupta posted on X, saying, "I met a 35-year-old staff software engineer at Microsoft in Koramangala driving Namma Yatri to combat loneliness on weekends."

In the autorickshaw, the man was seen sporting a Microsoft hoodie. Some users expressed amazement, while others sympathised with the man's loneliness. That's just plain depressing, commented Ankit Shrivastava, a tech enthusiast (if accurate). "They will complain about moonlighting," remarked a different user.

In the meanwhile, this discussion has also included the language controversy. "This is what happens when you speak only one language in a city (BLR) where more than 50 per cent of people are outsiders," humorously wrote a third person.

But it's not uncommon to see techies in Bengaluru driving autos and motorbike taxis; some have even been spotted taking gig jobs to supplement their income.

A tech worker from Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL) in Bengaluru was previously spotted using a Rapido bike taxi to solicit leads for a new position as a Java developer. It is reported that after losing his prior career, he became a bike taxi driver in order to make ends meet and network with other techies for employment recommendations.
