Meerut murder case: In a shocking turn of events, the parents of Muskan Rastogi, who is accused of murdering merchant navy officer, her husband  Saurabh Rajput, with the help of her lover Sahil Shukla, have severed all ties with her and refused to provide any legal support.

Muskan’s mother, Kavita, said, “We will never meet her or fight for her case. This is not an ordinary crime. Just like an infected limb is amputated, we have distanced ourselves from her. She is our daughter, and we will always feel an emotional void, but we cannot stand by her after such a heinous act.”

Muskan’s parents also dismissed claims made by Saurabh’ Rajput's family regarding financial irregularities, asserting that they had no involvement in any such matters. They clarified that more than half of the Rs 1 lakh they received from Saurabh had already been returned and insisted that their financial status was stable.

“Our finances are secure. If Saurabh truly earned Rs 80-90 lakh, why was he living in a small rented room? The claim that he was in the Navy has also proven to be false. He transferred Rs 2.5 lakh to his mother, knowing she might not return it, which is why he trusted us more and sent money to our account,” said Muskan’s father, Pramod.

The couple maintained that they were open to any investigation to clear their names.

Muskan’s mother refuted her daughter’s recent statements, stating, “I am her real mother. She is speaking out of anger and making false claims.”

Addressing rumours that Kavita was Muskan’s stepmother, her father outright denied them. “Kavita is her biological mother. Muskan was emotionally closer to her maternal aunt, who is no longer alive, and considered her as a mother figure. That is likely why she is making such statements now,” he explained.

Kavita recalled a conversation with Muskan on March 18, where her daughter inquired about the meaning of "Karan Vishachini," a term the family was unfamiliar with. “We never believed in superstitions, so we ignored it. But after seeing Sahil’s room, it seems like he manipulated her,” she said.

She also made it clear that Muskan would never be welcomed back into their home, even if she was released in the future. “I know this sounds harsh, but it is my final decision. Even her daughter should not have to bear the consequences of this crime,” she added.

The case came to light on March 18 when the police discovered Saurabh’s body, dismembered and sealed inside a plastic drum filled with cement, in their rented house in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. Saurabh, who had recently returned from London after working in a bakery, had married Muskan in 2016 after a love marriage. He was last seen alive on March 4, the day he was allegedly murdered. The couple had been living together with their five-year-old daughter for the past three years.
