Meerut murder case: Blue drum horror shakes retail business, no sale without ID card
Meerut murder case: The gruesome murder of Saurabh Rajput, whose body was concealed inside a blue drum and sealed with cement, has sent shockwaves through the retail business community. The incident has led traders to adopt stringent security measures, with many now requiring identification proof before selling these commonly used storage drums.
For years, blue drums have been a staple for transporting and storing goods, but their perception has drastically shifted following this chilling crime. Traders say they now question buyers about their purpose for purchasing a blue drum and ask for their ID. Even juice vendors, who frequently use these drums, are making changes. They have replaced blue drums with white ones to ease customer concerns. They say cstomers now associate blue drums with crime.
The case has ignited a flurry of online reactions, with memes and videos turning the blue drum into an internet joke. However, traders are outraged, calling the humour insensitive. “A man lost his life, and people are mocking his tragic death. These memes are disrespectful to the grieving family and must stop. Authorities should take strict action against those trivialising this case,” said a business owner.
