Massive explosion in Indian Oil Corporation's factory in Vadodara; rescue op underway
PTC News Desk: An explosion sparked a massive fire at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) refinery in the Koyali area of Vadodara, Gujarat. "Rescue operations are underway; no fatalities or serious injuries have been reported as of yet," DCP Traffic Jyoti Patel said.
"I received a call from Bajwa Sarpanch Ajit Patel, who informed me of the fire. I attempted to contact refinery officials, but they were too busy with the dousing operation to take a phone call. Some injuries have been reported, but no fatalities have been reported," MLA Dharmendrasinh Vaghela explained.
According to reports, the fire began about 4 p.m. after a blast at the IOCL refinery in Koyali. Smoke plumes were visible from several km away. Workers who were present at the refinery were evacuated following the explosion.
