Manish Sisodia granted bail after 17 months in Delhi liquor policy case

PTC News Desk: Manish Sisodia, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, left Tihar jail on Friday after serving 17 months in jail related to an alleged excise policy case.

Shortly after leaving the jail, Sisodia was met by AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi minister Atishi. In addition, a large group of AAP supporters arrived to greet the former Deputy Chief Minister outside Tihar jail.

The AAP leader was set free just hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail in the liquor policy case. He said that because he had been detained for more than a year and the case was still pending, he had been denied the right to prompt justice.

Sisodia spoke to party members shortly after leaving jail, attributing his release in a "false case" to Babasaheb Ambedkar's Constitution. The former deputy chief minister expressed optimism that Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the AAP, will soon be released from prison.

"Every square inch of my being has felt obligated to Babasaheb ever since this order arrived in the morning. In his first speech upon his release from Tihar jail, he declared, "I don't understand how will pay off this debt to Babasaheb."
