The incident was reported at Iroisemba on Sunday evening. The eight-year-old boy was being taken to a hospital by his mother and their relative in Imphal as he had sustained a bullet injury in his head during a shoot-out. For a few km, the ambulance was under Assam Rifles escort. Later, it was taken over by the local police. "However, the ambulance was waylaid by civilians at Isoisemba and set afire. All three in the vehicle were killed. The bodies are yet to be recovered, it is learnt.
