Manali cloudburst: Floods wreak havoc in Himachal's Manali, houses washed away
Manali cloudburst: A cloudburst hit Himachal Pradesh's Manali, triggering severe flooding in the region and causing significant damage. The heavy rainfall caused rapid inundation of areas.
Following the cloudburst and flooding, the Manali-Leh road has been closed and significant damage has been caused to infrastructure. A bridge and a power project in the affected area were severely damaged by floodwaters.
The Anjani Mahadev and Aakhri Naal rivers, which flow through the region, witnessed a sudden surge in water levels. The deafening sound of raging water prompted residents to flee their homes while floodwaters caused chaos and mayhem in Palchan, Ruad, and Kulang villages. Bridges and power projects were also damaged, further compounding the situation.
The flooding in Palchan was particularly devastating in which two houses were washed away. No casualties have been reported so far.
