PTC News Desk: A major fire erupted at the Times Tower, a seven-storey commercial building in Mumbai's Lower Parel area, on Friday morning. The blaze reportedly started around 6:30 a.m. in the Kamala Mill compound, according to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials.
The fire has been classified as a level 2 (major) incident, prompting the deployment of nine fire engines and other firefighting vehicles to the scene. So far, there have been no reports of casualties, and efforts to control the fire are ongoing.

This incident brings back memories of the tragic fire that broke out in the same Kamala Mill compound on December 29, 2017. That fire, which started at 1Above and spread to Mojo’s Bistro restaurant, resulted in the deaths of 14 people and left several others injured. Following the 2017 fire, 14 individuals were booked by the Mumbai Police, including restaurant owners, employees, BMC officials, and the mill's owners.
In a subsequent legal development, on November 10, 2020, the Mumbai sessions court discharged Kamala Mills compound owners Ramesh Gowani and Ravi Bhandari, who had been booked in connection with the 2017 tragedy.
