Maha Kumbh 2025: Ban on vehicular entry, no VVIPs passes after stampede on Mauni Amavasya

PTC News Desk: The Maha Kumbh area has been designated as a no-vehicle zone, VVIP passes have been revoked, and roads leading to the event have been converted to one-way to ensure the smooth movement of devotees. This comes after a deadly stampede on Wednesday, which claimed the lives of 30 people and injured 60 others.

The tragic incident occurred as millions of devotees crowded to take a holy dip during the Mauni Amavasya (new moon) at the world’s largest religious gathering.


After the tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a late-night video conference with senior police officers and officials from various districts, including Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Mirzapur, Basti, Jaunpur, Chitrakoot, Banda, Ambedkarnagar, Pratapgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Bhadohi, Rae Bareli, and Gorakhpur.

He issued a series of directives, such as setting up holding areas at border points to manage crowd flow and ensuring that return routes from Prayagraj remain clear.
