The incident, which took place at 6 pm on Saturday in Janjali area of Raghogarh, triggered a massive rescue operation involving multiple teams.

Madhya Pradesh: 10 year old boy dies after being trapped in 140-feet borewell for 16 hours

PTC News Desk: A 10 year old boy who fell into a 140-feet borewell in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district died after he was trapped for more than 16 hours. The boy was pulled out of the borewell after 16 hours and he was immediately rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. 


The incident, which took place at 6 pm on Saturday in Janjali area of Raghogarh, triggered a massive rescue operation involving multiple teams.

The deceased child has been identified as Sumit Meena who slipped into the open shaft of the borewell at around 5 pm on Saturday at Pipliya village under Raghogarh assembly segment, located 50 km from the Guna district headquarters.

"The child was in the narrow borewell for the entire night in the chilly weather. His hands and feet were drenched and swollen. His clothes were also wet and mud was found in his mouth," Guna district chief medical and health officer Dr Rajkumar Rishishwar said.

Th latest incident comes almost a week after a three year old girl Chetna fell into a 700-foot borewell in Rajasthan's Kotputli. However she is still trapped at 150 feet in the borewell. Massive rescue operation is being carried out which were hindered by intermittent rain.
