Blast in Madhya Pradesh: 15 Injured in major blast at Ordnance Factory in Jabalpur
PTC Web Desk: At least 15 persons were injured in a powerful explosion at Ordnance Factory in Khamaria, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday. The blast occurred at the Central Security Institute Ordnance Factory, where bombs and explosives are manufactured. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The explosion reportedly took place in the refilling section of the factory. One worker is still missing and may be trapped under the debris, according to officials. Firefighters and ambulances responded swiftly, and rescue operations are ongoing.
Reports indicate that the blast was triggered by a malfunction in the hydraulic system during a bomb filling process in the factory's F-6 section. The explosion was so intense that it caused part of the building to collapse and was heard up to five km away. Nearby residents also reported feeling tremors, resembling an earthquake. Senior officials have arrived at the scene, and an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Notably, the Ordnance Factory Khamaria is a key ammunition production facility under the Department of Defence Production. The full extent of the damage and the cause of the blast will be known once the investigation is completed.
