Lok Sabha defeats Rajya Sabha in Tuberculosis-awareness Parliamentarian cricket match
PTC News Desk: Lok Sabha MPs under the chairmanship of speaker OM Birla and Rajya Sabha MPs under the chairmanship of chairman Jagdeep Dhankar played a friendly match as a part of the tuberculosis awareness campaign. The match was held on Sunday at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
The ruling and opposition seemed to share the stage outside the parliament in the open grounds as Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs played cricket match. BJP MP Anurag Thakur captained Lok Sabha Speaker XI while Union Minister Kiren Rijiju led Rajya Sabha Chairman XI. The match was titled as "TB-Free India Awareness Cricket Match" in which Lok Sabha's XI beat Rajya Sabha's XI by 73 runs.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur who is also a former Union minister of sports played a significant role in Lok Sabha's victory as he scored 111 runs.
"TB is a serious disease, and raising awareness is the most effective way to combat it. Spreading awareness about TB is a collective responsibility of the government, society, and Members of Parliament. During this winter session of Parliament, we MPs have resolved to enhance awareness against TB. To that end, select MPs from all parties are playing the TB-Free India Awareness Cricket Match," Lok Sabha Speaker's XI skipper Anurag Thakur said before the start of the match.
The member of parliament from both the houses lauded the initiative and hoped that the message if fitness will spread across the country. The match was played with an objective to signify unity amongst the lawmakers on such crucial issues.
