PTC Web Desk: Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has hit back at Shiv Sena workers with a new satirical video after they vandalised Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai. The attack followed Kunal Kamra’s jibe at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, where he called him a "traitor" over the 2022 split of the party founded by Bal Thackeray.

In his latest video, Kamra sings "Hum Honge Kangal" while visuals of Sena workers destroying the comedy venue play in the background. The lyrics take a dig at blind faith and political turmoil, with Kamra mentioning Nathuram Godse and self-proclaimed godman Asaram to criticise Sena leader Rahul Kanal, who had threatened him.

"Hum honge kangal ek din, man me hai andhvishwas, desh ka satyanash" (We will be poor one day, there is blind faith in the heart, the country is heading towards destruction), Kamra sings as footage shows Sena workers throwing chairs and ransacking the venue.

The video surfaced just hours after the Mumbai Police summoned Kamra to appear before the investigating officer at 11 am over his remarks on Shinde. However, Kamra, through his lawyer, has sought a one-week extension to respond.

A case was registered by MIDC Police, later transferred to Khar police for further investigation. Despite facing legal trouble, Kamra remains defiant, stating he will not apologise for his comments.

"I will not apologise... I don't fear this mob, and I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down," Kamra posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Shiv Sena leaders from the Eknath Shinde faction continue to issue threats against Kamra, warning that he will be dealt with in "Sena style" if he does not apologise. The ruling coalition has strongly condemned Kamra’s remarks.

Responding to the controversy, Eknath Shinde defended Sena workers, stating, "Action causes reaction," while also reminding Kamra that there is a limit to comedy.
