Kumbh Mela 2025: The Uttar Pradesh government plans to use artificial intelligence-based technology and tools for crowd management at the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the state police department to adopt technology for the massive event.

The Chief Minister stated that the scale of the event was likely to be unprecedented, making it critical to establish a standard for security, cleanliness, and ease.

"The Kumbh represents the connection between India's rich religious and cultural legacy and the rest of the world. As a result, there is a need to ensure the event's safety, convenience, and cleanliness," he stated during a meeting of senior officials at his residence.

Claiming that the mela will be an opportunity to build brand UP and brand India, the Chief Minister directed officials to hire competent organisers and spread the word about the event so that pilgrims and tourists from all over the world may attend and become a part of history.

"To avoid any unfortunate incidents, the police department and other stakeholders must use technology to effectively manage crowds. A detailed action and contingency plan must be created. AI-based equipment and approaches must be utilised to monitor crowd density so that any potential clusters can be dispersed before the group disrupts order in any pocket," he stated.

The Chief Minister stated that the Ganga and Kalpvasis represented the spirit of the Maha Kumbh, and he urged officials to ensure that the mela was planned around the green theme. He further stated that the relevant departments must maintain a clean Ganga from Bijnor to Ballia.

According to officials who attended the conference, the 2025 Mela would be held over 4000 hectares, as opposed to 3200 hectares in 2019.

The Chief Minister also asked police to train and prepare personnel for mela duty. He also asked organisers to make suitable provisions for international VIP and VVIP guests.
