PTC Web Desk: The post-mortem report of the 31-year-old doctor found murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital has indicated that she was the victim of a sexual assault involving more than one person.

As per  report in India Today, Dr  Subarna Goswami said the injuries sustained by the trainee doctor could not have been inflicted by a single person. He said the report found 151 gm of liquid in the vaginal swab, a quantity that suggests the involvement of more than one person. Both the nature of the injuries and the force applied point towards multiple accused. This case has sparked significant national outrage and prompted protests by medical professionals across several states.

The body of the post-graduate trainee doctor was found in a semi-naked state in the seminar room of the West Bengal government-run hospital on Friday morning. Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, has been detained in connection with the case.

Horrific details from post-mortem report

The post-mortem report indicated that the victim was throttled and then smothered to death. Her thyroid cartilage was fractured due to strangulation, and a severe injury was noted in her genital area. The four-page report described the genital wounds as resulting from "perverted sexuality" and "genital torture."

Besides the injuries in her private parts, the report documented wounds on her abdomen, lips, fingers, and left leg. The victim was also found to be bleeding from both eyes and her mouth. The report further noted that her nose and mouth were obstructed, and her head was forced against a wall to prevent her from making any noise. Scratch marks were found on her face.

The report described that the victim's mouth and throat were continually pressed to stifle any sounds, and her throat was constricted to induce suffocation. The thyroid cartilage was broken as a result of the strangulation.
