Kolkata doctor murder case: Hours after the Kolkata High Court's direction, the CBI on Wednesday arrived in Kolkata to take over the investigation into the r@pe and murder of a woman doctor at West Bengal's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The CBI team also includes a specialised medical and forensic team from Delhi. The team would take over the files from the Kolkata police and resume their probe.
Meanwhile, the victim's relatives detailed their dreadful ordeal after knowing of the tragedy. The family said they were told their daughter had died by sui.cide and were forced to wait three hours outside the hospital before seeing her body.

- Following a High Court order for the state police to hand over the case documents to the central agency, the CBI swiftly finished all formalities. According to the procedure, the CBI has re-registered the Kolkata Police's FIR.
- On Wednesday, a Delhi-based team of CBI officials, forensic scientists, and medical experts arrived in Kolkata. In addition to examining the crime scene where the body was discovered, the experts are likely to review the autopsy report and evaluate any video footage that was recorded. 3. - The family of the deceased female doctor stated that the hospital informed them that their daughter died by sui.cide. According to an interview with Lallantop, they were left waiting outside the hospital for three hours before seeing her body.
- Lallantop spoke with the victim's parents and relatives. The trainee doctor's father stated that when he received a call from the hospital, he suspected something had happened with his daughter.
- "She (pointing to his wife) began crying. They told us that our daughter had committed sui.cide and that we needed to come quickly," he added.
- When he arrived at the hospital, he found that his daughter's body had been recovered in a seminar hall, half-clothed and wounded. Investigations eventually showed that the doctor had been r@ped and murdered in a gruesome assault that shocked the nation.
- Reportedly, the Assistant Superintendent of the chest medicine department called and said that their daughter died by sui.cide'. The victim's father also added that the official did not name himself during the call. The father's remarks sparked allegations that the college management tried a cover-up when the woman doctor's body was discovered.
- One of the relatives who had accompanied the parents to the hospital stated that the victim's mother was distraught after learning about her daughter. According to the relative, when they arrived at the hospital, they were told to wait outside for three hours.
- "The parents pleaded with the medical authorities to show them their daughter's face. However, they were forced to wait for three hours," the relative stated.
- The relative recounted the awful conditions in which the trainee doctor's body was found.
- "After three hours, they let the father go inside and see her body. He was only allowed to take one picture, which he showed us when he got out. She had no clothes on her body. Her legs were 90 degrees apart... this cannot happen unless the pelvic girdle breaks, implying she was torn apart," the relative explained.
- "Her spectacles were smashed, and there were shards of glass in her eyes. She choked to death. I'm not making this up. This has also been proven in the post-mortem," she continued.
