PTC Web Desk: Led by Ritu Karidhal Srivastava, popularly known as India's 'rocket woman,' Chandrayaan-3, the country's third lunar mission, was launched on Friday at 2.35 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
Ritu Karidhal Srivastava is a senior scientist in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). According to Women Economic Forum (WEF), she played a key role in realising the Mars Orbiter Mission.

Ritu Karidhal Srivastava, recognised as India's 'rocket woman,' completed her MSc in Physics from Lucknow University in 1996. Later, she pursued her MTech degree at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru. Her professors and mentors at Lucknow University commend her as an exceptionally talented and brilliant student.
From an early age, Ritu Karidhal Srivastava nurtured a keen interest in space exploration. During her school days, one of her hobbies included collecting news articles pertaining to space activities conducted by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), the American space agency.
According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), Ritu Karidhal Srivastava joined ISRO in November 1997. Throughout her career, she has contributed to numerous esteemed missions of ISRO and held significant roles, including the position of Operations Director for various missions.
She has made notable contributions to the field of space exploration, as evidenced by her publication of over 20 papers in both international and national publications.
