Karnataka assembly polls: BJP set to release election manifesto, PM Modi slams Congress

New Delhi, May 1: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to release its election manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections on Monday, as per sources. The manifesto will be unveiled by party president JP Nadda in the presence of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and party veteran BS Yediyurappa.

The manifesto is likely to focus on welfare measures for the youth, infrastructure development, and women empowerment. A special announcement may also be made for first-time voters, particularly girl students who have passed class 12. The 2018 election manifesto of the BJP touched every section of society and included cow protection measures.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing an election rally in Kolar on Sunday, criticized the Congress for comparing him to a poisonous snake. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made the remark at an election rally in Karnataka's Kalaburagi on Thursday. PM Modi said that the people of Karnataka will give a "befitting answer" to the Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections. PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress, calling it an "outdated engine" that has halted development. The Congress has promised a number of guarantees, including 200 units of free electricity, to the people of Karnataka ahead of the state Assembly polls scheduled for May 10.

The Prime Minister has been campaigning for the BJP in the last leg of the campaigning, conducting several poll rallies and roadshows to turn the tide in favor of the party. The Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10, and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.
