Kargil Vijay Diwas: On the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the Kargil War Memorial around 9:20 am to pay homage to the bravehearts who make the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The Prime Minister also virtually initiates the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project.

The Shinkun La Tunnel Project involves constructing a 4.1 km long twin-tube tunnel at an altitude of around 15,800 feet on the Nimu–Padum–Darcha Road to provide all-weather connectivity to Leh. Once completed, it will be the highest tunnel in the world.
