Jet fuel price hike: ATF gets costlier; fourth consecutive monthly increase since July

Jet fuel price hike: The price of jet fuel, also known as Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), was raised by 5% on Sunday, the fourth consecutive monthly increase since July.

According to a price notification from state-owned fuel retailers, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) in the national capital increased by 5,779.84 per kilolitre, or 5.1%, to 118,199.17 per kl from 112,419.33.

The rise follows the steepest-ever 14.1 percent increase (Rs 13,911.07 per kl) on September 1 and an 8.5% or 7,728.38 per kl increase on August 1.

The fourth consecutive increase in jet fuel prices, which accounts for 40% of an airline's operating costs, would place even more financial hardship on airlines that are already struggling financially.

ATF prices increased by 1.65% on July 1, equivalent to Rs 1,476.79 per kilolitre. ATF prices have risen by a record Rs 29,391.08 per kilolitre in four consecutive increases.
