JEE candidates claim missed exam due to Pawan Kalyan's convoy, probe ordered
PTC News Desk: A controversy erupted after several students who were to appear for their Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) in the Pendurthi alleged that they missed their exam as they arrived late at the centres due to the traffic disruptions caused by the convoy of Andhra Pradesh deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
Meanwhile Pawan Kalyan has ordered investigation into the claims of students that they missed their exam due to the traffic restrictions imposed for his convoy.
According to a release from Pawan Kalyan's office, the deputy chief minister has directed the Visakhapatnam police to ascertain the facts related to the incident. The statement asked, “How long was the traffic stopped for the convoy? What was the traffic situation on the routes where the students had to reach the exam centre at that time? Was any traffic control done on the service roads?”
The incident occurred near the Ayan Digital exam centre in Visakhapatnam’s Pendurthi. Parents of at least 23 students gathered outside the examination centre, expressing their frustration over their children being denied entry for arriving late. “Our children have been preparing for this exam for months. Losing out like this over something beyond their control is heartbreaking,” said one parent.
Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam City Police (VCP) issued a detailed response citing that the convoy passed much later than the closure timings of gate, hence no link established.
"The examination huidlines reuired students to report at 7 am at the centres with gates closing strictly at 8 am. Police confirmed that the Deputy Chief Minister's convoy passed the area only at 8.41 am—well after the gate closure. Hence, it is clear that the movement of the Hon’ble Deputy CM through that area cannot have any link to the late arrival of students,” the statement said.
Meanwhile social media flooded with the messages and videos claiming Deputy CM's convoy leading to massive traffic jam restricting movement leading to road closures.
