Jammu and Kashmir: Suspected terror attack targets tourists at Baseman Mountain Top in Pahalgam; 1 dead
PTC Web Desk: A suspected terror attack in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam, located in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, has left one person dead and at least seven others injured. The incident took place on Tuesday when unidentified militants opened fire on a group of tourists visiting the popular meadow region.
According to police sources, the attack occurred near the picturesque Baisaran meadows, a well-known trekking destination. A woman who survived the assault said her husband had been shot in the head and several others had sustained injuries.
Security forces rushed to the scene upon receiving reports of gunfire. A senior police official confirmed that teams were immediately deployed to the area, which is non-motorable and accessible only by foot or pony trek. The entire region has been cordoned off, and a search operation is currently underway.
