Jaipur-Ajmer highway fire incident: The devastating LPG tanker-fire incident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway has claimed another life, taking the death toll to 19. Lalaram (28), who had suffered 60% burn injuries, succumbed on Thursday while receiving treatment at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur.
Dr Sushil Bhati, superintendent of SMS Hospital, confirmed the fatality and stated that 11 patients were still under treatment, with three in critical condition on ventilator support. "Two or three patients may be discharged by the end of the day," he added.
The deceased, Lalaram, worked as a security guard in an IT company at the Mahindra SEZ. According to his friend Ramavtar, Lalaram was on his way to work on December 20 when he was caught in the fireball created by the collision of an LPG tanker and a truck. A resident of Sanganer who had recently moved to Kanota on the Agra highway, Lalaram was unmarried.
The tragic incident, which occurred on December 20, saw a massive fire engulf the Jaipur-Ajmer highway after an LPG tanker collided with a truck. Eleven persons died on the spot, with eight more succumbing to injuries in the following days. Three died on Wednesday due to severe injuries. The bodies have been moved to the SMS Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
