IPS officer faces controversy after viral video shows fire brigade filling water tank at residence

PTC News Desk: A fire department vehicle is seen filling a water tank at the home of an IPS officer from Maharashtra, Archana Tyagi, according to a viral video that has drawn condemnation from a variety of sources. The car had been used to 'control' an LPG cylinder leak, according to a detailed letter later released by the police.

It is purported that the footage was taken in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, along East Canal Road. Tyagi is a 1993 batch Maharashtra cadre IPS officer who was born in Dehradun. Known for her status as a 'supercop,' she served as the model for a character played by actor Rani Mukerji in the 2019 film 'Mardaani 2.'

Tyagi is an IPS officer from the 1993 Maharashtra cadre, born in Dehradun. Well-known for her role as a 'supercop,' she acted as the inspiration for an actor Rani Mukerji character in the 2019 movie 'Mardaani 2.'

The June footage is now available for viewing. The busy EC road in the 50-second footage shows a fire truck waiting outside Tyagi's residence. Additionally, a pipe goes into the structure. In the same video, a woman can be heard asking, "Kya IPS ke ghar paani bharne fire brigade aa jati hai (Is a fire tender available to supply water for an IPS official)?"

"Investigation is underway to find out how the fire brigade vehicle ended up supplying water to the officer's residence," stated Additional Director General of Police Amit Sinha. He noted that the veracity of the video is being confirmed and advised that it was too soon to draw any conclusions.

But according to Chief Fire Officer Vansh Bahadur Yadav, the incident occurred on June 15 in response to a report of an LPG leak at the residence. The occasion took place at the parents' home of the IPS officer, per the report. The viral video has provoked discussion on social media, with one user making fun of the IPS officer for leading an opulent lifestyle.
