Indian woman Anju marries her Pakistani FB friend after Islam conversion?
New Delhi, July 15: Indian woman named Anju, who travelled legally to Pakistan, married her Pakistani Facebook friend on Tuesday, Pakistani media reported. She has also reportedly converted to Islam.
Anju, 34, was reportedly staying at her 29-year-old Pakistani Facebook friend Nasrullah's home. They have known each other on Facebook since 2019.
The couple married in a district and sessions judge's local court said reports.
"Nasrullah and Anju's marriage was solemnised today and proper a Nikah was performed after she converted to Islam," a senior officer at Moharrar City Police Station in Upper Dir district Muhammad Wahab was quoted saying by a news agency.
Anju, who was born in Kailor village in Uttar Pradesh and grew up in Rajasthan's Alwar district, shared a brief video in which she says she "feels safe here" in Pakistan, according to Geo News.
"I want to send this message to everyone that I came here legally and with planning; it wasn't two days ago that I came here all of a sudden," she stated in the video.
"I request that all members of the media refrain from harassing my relatives and children," she stated.
Arvind, Anju's husband, is in Rajasthan. They have a daughter who is 15 years old and a boy who is six years old.
Anju entered Pakistan legally through the Wagah-Attari border from India.
According to an official document provided to Pakistan's High Commission in New Delhi by the Ministry of Interior, the chancery was notified that it had been decided to grant Anju a 30-day visa valid solely for Upper Dir.
Nasrullah, the youngest of five brothers, is a science graduate from a university in Sheringal. He has given an affidavit to local officials declaring that their friendship has not been romantic, and Anju will return to India on August 20.
According to a senior police official in the region, the Indian lady's travel paperwork was found to be in order, and she has been allowed to stay with Nasrullah, who has been instructed to look after her.
