Indian princess unites nations: Ayodhya's Korean connection

PTC News Desk: The upcoming 'pran pratishtha' ceremony at Ayodhya's Ram temple, set to occur on Monday, boasts an international guest list, including Kim Chil-su from South Korea, a descendant of the Queen Heo dynasty.

Queen Heo, also known as Suriratna, was a beloved princess of Ayodhya, who, according to historical records, journeyed to Korea and married King Suro in 48 AD. Their union marked the establishment of the Karak dynasty in 42 AD. Legend has it that Queen Heo's parents, guided by a dream, sent their daughter to meet King Suro in Geumgwan Gaya. The dream's fulfillment led to a significant marriage.

Recognizing the historical bonds between Ayodhya and South Korea, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended an invitation to the First Lady of South Korea, emphasizing the global significance of the Ayodhya-Lord Ram connection.

Raja Ayodhya Bimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, known as the 'King of Ayodhya' and a member of Ram Janmabhoomi Theertha Kshetra Trust, highlighted the revitalisation of ties between Ayodhya and South Korea in the mid-1990s. In 1996, a delegation from Inje University visited Ayodhya to trace Queen Heo's lineage. By 1999, the King of Ayodhya was honored in South Korea, solidifying the cultural exchange.

In 2001, the Uttar Pradesh government and Gimhae City in South Korea collaborated to establish the Queen Huh Memorial Park in Ayodhya, spanning 2,000 square meters. The park features a meditation hall, pavilions dedicated to the queen and king, pathways, a fountain, murals, and audio-video facilities. Descendants of Queen Heo have since made visits to India, strengthening the cultural bond.

South Korean Ambassador to India Chang Jae-Bok highlighted the significance of Ayodhya, stating that the legend of an Indian princess marrying a Korean king 2,000 years ago has a strong Ayodhya connection. The assumption is that Ayuta in Korean language corresponds to Ayodhya. This shared history continues to foster a deep connection between the two nations.
