India submits formal bid to host Olympics, Paralympics in 2036
PTC News Desk: In a significant towards making India sports bastion, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has formally submitted a Letter of Intent to the Future Host Commission, International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressing country's interest to host Olympics and Paralympics Games in 2036.
The event next will be hosted by Los Angeles in the US IN 2028 followed by Brisbane, Australia hosting the global event in 2032. India has expressed its interest for hosting the games in 2036. Last year PM Modi confirmed nation's desire in hosting the Olympic Games in the year 2036, claiming that 140 crore Indians are committed to staging the Games and also highlighting significance of the bid to make India a center stage for sports.
"We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to organise the Olympics on Indian soil in the year 2036. This is the age-old dream and aspiration of 140 crore Indians. This dream has to be built with your cooperation and support," he had said.
IOC President Thomas Bach also extended its support for India's bid saying that here is a "strong case" for India to host the Olympics, further solidifying India's candidature. Along with India, nine other countries have also pitched for Olympics 20236 including Mexico, Indonesia, Turkey, Poland, Egypt, and South Korea. The competition among these countries will go through a rigorous selection process, led by the IOC's Future Host Commission.
