India hits back; names Canada border police officer in terror case
PTC News Desk: Amid massive diplomatic tensions between India and Canada over the murder of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, India has once again hit back to Canada's moves. New Delhi has named Canadian Border Service Agency's official in terror case. The official has been identified as Sandeep Singh Sidhu whose India has sought deportation from Canada. India has named Sidhu in the list of fugitive terrorists sought for deportation.
According to the reports, Sandeep Singh Sidhu is an employee of Canadian Border Service Agency and also a member of banned International Sikh Youth Federation who is accused of promoting terrorist activities in Punjab. Sidhu reportedly has been associated with Pakistan-based Lakhbir Singh Rode and other ISI operatives, playing a key role in the 2020 assassination of Balwinder Singh Sandhu.
The report comes days after ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, at a press briefing, pointed out that at least 26 extradition requests from the Indian side, sent over the last decade or more, were still pending with Canadian authorities.
"There are 26 extradition requests pending with the Canadian side, these are over the last decade or more, along with that, there are several provisional arrest requests, which are also pending with the Canadian side, of certain criminals," said Randhir Jaiswal.
India's move is considered another tit for tat as earlier this week Canada went public with the allegations that Indian diplomats have been involved in the target killing of Sikh activists abroad.
