PTC Web Desk: In a historic move towards women's empowerment and strengthening national security, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the formation of the first-ever all-women battalion within the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The CISF headquarters has begun the process of recruitment, training, and location selection for the new battalion, according to Deputy Inspector General Deepak Verma.

Specialised training will be provided to create an elite force capable of handling diverse responsibilities, including commando duties in VIP security, airport security, and Delhi Metro Rail assignments, as per the statement.

This initiative stems from a directive issued by the Union Home Minister during the 53rd CISF Day celebrations. The establishment of the all-women battalion is expected to inspire more young women across India to join the CISF and contribute to national security, redefining the role of women within the force.

Currently, women constitute over 7% of the CISF personnel, and this move will help increase female representation in the Central Armed Police Force.
