While highlighting ties with India, Spokesperson said that the relationship is based on mutual benefit and US tariffs deprive countries especially Global South of right to development.

India-China should stand united against US tariff abuse: Chinese embassy

PTC News Desk: India and China should stand against tariff abuse imposed by Trump administration, the spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in India said on Tuesday.


"China-India economic and trade relationship is based on complimentarity and mutual benefit. Facing the US abuse of tariffs... the two largest developing countries should stand together to overcome the difficulties," spokesperson Yu Jing said in a post on X.

The statement further said that China's economy depends on upgrading industrial system and sustained focus on innovation and research.

"China's economy is underpinned by a system that ensures steady growth, and produces positive spillovers. Chinese manufacturing is built on a complete and continually upgrading industrial system, sustained investment in R&D, and a strong focus on innovation," the statement read.

While highlighting ties with India, Spokesperson said that the relationship is based on mutual benefit and US tariffs deprive countries especially Global South of right to development. 

"China-India economic and trade relationship is based on complimentarity and mutual benefit. Facing the U.S. abuse of tariffs, which deprives countries, especially Global South countries, of their right to development, the two largest developing countries should stand together to overcome the difficulties," the statement read. 

"Trade and tariff wars have no winners. All countries should uphold the principles of extensive consultation, practice true multilateralism, jointly oppose all forms of unilateralism and protectionism," she said.
