India China resume patrolling along LAC in Ladakh's Depsang, Demchok

PTC News Desk: Indian and Chinese troops have resumed patrolling along Line of Actual Control (LAC) in easters Ladakh after 4 years. The resumption marks a significant de-escalation in border clashes.

The soldiers patrolled areas Depsang and Damchok a day after completing disengagement following the agreement on military disengagement. Earlier, Indian and Chinese troops exchanged sweets at several border points along the Line of Actual Control marking Diwali. The exchange took place at five Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) points along the LAC.

The disengagement is expected to thaw diplomatic as well as military Sino-Indian ties that have been strained since 2020. The development comes after slew of negotiations and dialogue evolving into finalised agreement on October 21 which aims to resolve issues stemming from the 2020 standoff.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on October 21 said in Delhi that an agreement was finalised between India and China following negotiations over the past several weeks and that it would lead to a resolution of the issues that arose in 2020. Soon after both the countries confirmed the patrolling pact.
