IIT Guwahati student ends life in hostel room
PTC Web Desk: A student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in Assam allegedly died by suicide, the police said on Friday. The student's body was found in his hostel room on Wednesday.
"It is with deep regret that IIT Guwahati shares the unfortunate news of the death of a male student on campus on April 10, 2024," the institute said in a statement. "Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, and we are providing them with the necessary support during this difficult time," the statement added.
The police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student's death. The institute expressed its concern for the grieving family and called for privacy and sensitivity during this time.
The college authorities also requested the media to respect the privacy of the deceased and handle the situation with discretion while reporting on the incident. Further information regarding the case is still pending.
