How much did PM Modi's 38 foreign trips in two years cost ?
PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 38 foreign trips have between May 2022 and December 2024 for bilateral meetings and multilateral events cost a total of almost ₹259 crore according to data shared by the government in parliament on Thursday.
Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita shared the visit-wise data in his written response to a query in Rajya Sabha on Thursday (March 20, 2025). Out of all the visits, PM Modi's costliest visit was to the United States which incurred over Rs 22 crore. While the lowest expenditure was subjected to the trip to Nepal in 2022.
The expenses were largely under five heads – accommodation, venue charges, security, transportation and miscellaneous expenditure – with accommodation, at a total of ₹104 crore, accounting for a little less than half of the overall total. This was followed by miscellaneous expenditure ( ₹75.7 crore) and transportation ( ₹71.1 crore).
Out of all the 38 trips, Prime Minister visited 34 countries (with visit to some countries more than once). He visited eight countries in 2022, 10 in 2023 and 16 in 2024.
