Himachal Pradesh flood HIGHLIGHTS | Pandoh Dam in Mandi opens floodgates; 2 dead, over 50 missing as cloudbursts cause massive damage
The overflowing Beas River has damaged the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway in various locations. Reports of houses being damaged in Bhagipul, Kullu, have also been received, and an alert has been issued in the Bhuntar district of Kullu as the swelling Parvati River and Malana Khud flooded, causing damage to the Malana I and Malana II hydropower projects.
"Our four teams are there. Rescue efforts are ongoing. It will take some time for the situation to settle. All arrangements are underway for airlifting the trapped individuals. We are doing everything we can to rescue people as soon as possible," NDRF DG Piyush Anand says.

Flood situation likely to worsen in Hiamchal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, following heavy rainfall and cloudbursts in the state, sources said on Thursday.
He has directed top officials to ensure that all possible aid is provided to those affected. According to sources, relief operations are currently in full swing.
According to Kullu deputy commissioner Torul S Ravish, no casualties have been reported thus far.
Due to severe weather conditions, the Chief Minister's helicopter was unable to take off, forcing him to return to Shimla.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to review the situation. The Union Home Minister assured the Chief Minister of providing central assistance and the support of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Himachal Shimla Landslide News: Cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh have caused mayhem in Himachal Pradesh, causing extensive destruction across the state. Cloudbursts occurred in several districts of Himachal Pradesh, causing flooding and extensive damage. At least two persons have been killed, while over 50 remain missing following the cloudbursts and flooding.
Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu stated that rescue and relief operations are currently underway.
"Very sad news has been received about more than 50 people missing due to a cloudburst in Rampur tehsil of Shimla, Padhar tehsil of Mandi district and Jaon, Nirmand villages of Kullu," CM Sukkhu said.
"Teams of NDRF, SDRF, Police, Home Guard and Fire Services are engaged in relief, search and rescue operations. The local administration has been instructed to carry out relief and rescue operations smoothly. I am in touch with the officials and monitoring the relief and rescue operations. The state government is committed to providing all possible assistance," he added.
A cloudburst in Shimla's Samej Khad area on Thursday left at least 36 persons missing, according to Shimla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anupam Kashyap.
He added that the SDRF team has gone for the location.
Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi earlier stated that 36 people have been reported missing in the Samej area of Shimla district.
"So far, 36 people have been reported missing in the Samej area of Shimla district. The Chief Minister has called an emergency meeting...many bridges have been damaged," said Jagat Singh Negi.
Another cloudburst has been reported in Mandi's Thaltukhod, Padhar area. According to Apoorv Devgan, Deputy Commissioner Mandi, one body has been recovered, but 11 persons are still missing.
Floods triggered due to cloudbursts washed away many houses. There has been a significant loss of life and property.
A major cloudburst in Himachal's Kullu caused a breach in the Malana Hydropower Project in Manikaran. The breach caused major floods and chaos in the valley.
The continuous rains worsened the situation, causing the Beas River to change its course near Manali. The river now flows onto the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway, which is now closed owing to landslides and flooding.
