'No immediate action': High Court's relief for Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in land scam case

PTC News Desk: The Karnataka High Court on Monday asked the trial court not to take any immediate action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah after Governor Thawaar Chand Gehlot approved the Congress leader's prosecution in the alleged MUDA land scam case.

The interim relief will remain in effect until August 29, when the court will hear this case again.

Siddaramaiah had sought this interim relief on the grounds that the Governor's action was "illegal and without legal authority." He added in his plea that allowing his prosecution posed "a grave and imminent risk of irreparable harm (to his) reputation" as well as "disrupt governance... and potentially result in political destabilisation."
