Heavy rain in Delhi-NCR triggers waterlogging, traffic jams; two Injured in Dwarka wall collapse
PTC Web Desk: Parts of Delhi-NCR experienced heavy to moderate rainfall for the second consecutive day on Saturday, leading to waterlogging and severe traffic congestion. In Dwarka, two persons were injured when a school wall collapsed after a tree fell on it.
The Delhi Police said the tree was uprooted during the heavy rain in Dwarka's Baba Haridas Nagar, causing it to fall onto the wall of an MCD school, which then collapsed. The two men, who were seeking shelter, were trapped under the tree and debris, but were rescued by locals and taken to a hospital.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert for several areas of Delhi-NCR, forecasting light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds of 30-40 km/h. Waterlogging was reported in multiple locations across East, South East, and Central Delhi. The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory stating that traffic on Rohtak Road was affected, and vehicles were being diverted.
"Traffic is impacted on Rohtak Road on the carriageway from Nangloi towards Tikri Border due to potholes and waterlogging. Please avoid Mundka and choose alternate routes," the police posted on X.
Social media visuals showed extensive flooding in the cargo area of Delhi airport. The Lodhi Road observatory recorded 12 mm of rainfall from 11:30 pm on Friday until 2:30 am on Saturday, according to the IMD. The continuous rainfall brought Delhi's minimum temperature down to 25.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.2 degrees below the seasonal average.
In Haryana, the IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall in areas including Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Nuh, and Hodal. In Uttar Pradesh, showers were expected in Siyana, Jattari, Nandgaon, Barsana, Mathura, and Agra.
Light rain and drizzle were also forecasted for Manesar, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul, Bawal, Modinagar, Garhmukteshwar, Pilakhua, Hapur, Gulaoti, Sambhal, Billari, Khair, Iglas, Sikandra Rao, Raya, Hathras, Jalesar, Etah, Sadabad, Tundla, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Shikohabad, Bhiwari, Tizara, and Khairthal.
