HC cancels notification for Chandigarh Mayor, Deputy Mayor elections; orders rescheduling after January 29
PTC Web Desk: In a major development, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has annulled the notification for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation's Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor elections, originally scheduled for January 24. The court has directed that the elections be conducted after January 29.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court also instructed the Chandigarh Administrator to review the matter regarding the manner in which these elections were to be held. The elections have been postponed for approximately one week, and a fresh notification will be issued to conduct the elections. Additionally, the nominations scheduled for Monday will no longer take place.
