PTC News Desk: Five cow vigilantes have been arrested for allegedly lynching a man on suspicion of consuming beef, Haryana Police announced on Saturday. According to a senior police officer, the incident occurred on August 27 in the Charkhi Dadri district, and the victim, Sabir Malik, was a worker from West Bengal.

"Thinking the victim had consumed beef, the accused - Abhishek, Mohit, Ravinder, Kamaljit, and Sahil - approached him at a shop under the pretence of selling empty plastic bottles. There, they beat him," the officer said. "After some people intervened, the group took Malik to another location and beat him again, leading to his death," he added.

The deceased lived in a shack near Bandhara village, collecting waste and rags for a living.

In addition to the five accused, two minors have been apprehended in the case. A case has been filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
